DANVILLE, CALIFORNIA — Newly obtained video shows the dramatic moment a car crashed into Luna Loca Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Danville last week.
The footage shared with Bay Area Telegraph by reader Jose L. shows a blue vehicle moving through the parking area outside the restaurant either before or just after striking the building. The impact jolts the camera as people react to the sudden crash.
The video then shows the vehicle stopped against the restaurant and a parked car and people beginning to gather nearby.

Crash Damaged Support Beams
As Bay Area Telegraph previously reported, the single-vehicle crash happened Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 19, at Luna Loca, located at 500 Sycamore Valley Road West inside The Livery shopping center.
The car struck two support beams at the front of the restaurant, San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Chief Jonas Aguiar told Patch.
Firefighters provided medical aid to one person at the scene. However, Aguiar said nobody was ultimately reported injured and no one was transported to a hospital.
The severity of the damage prompted a response from the fire district’s Urban Search and Rescue Team. Specialized personnel worked alongside building inspectors to stabilize and shore up the affected area.
Photos released by the fire district showed temporary wooden supports installed around part of the restaurant’s exterior.
Luna Loca Remains Open
Despite the startling scene, Luna Loca remained open following the crash.
The longtime Mexican restaurant has operated in Danville for more than 20 years. It features three dining rooms and is known for its Mexican dishes, margaritas and brunch service.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed what caused the driver to crash into the restaurant. No information about a citation or arrest has been released.
The newly surfaced footage underscores how fortunate the outcome was. The crash happened in the middle of the afternoon, while the restaurant was open, and sent a vehicle directly into the front of a popular dining destination — yet no serious injuries were reported.
