Concord’s Brand New Philz Coffee is Officially Open

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA — The wait is over for Concord coffee fans.

The city’s first Philz Coffee is officially open at The Willows Shopping Center, bringing another new business to the changing retail and restaurant destination on Diamond Boulevard.

The cafe is located at 1975 Diamond Boulevard, Suite C108, across from The Veranda and near Interstate 680. Philz’s official location page now lists the shop as “Now Open.”

The grand opening was Wednesday, August 26, following two scheduled soft-opening days. Bay Area Telegraph previously reported the opening date after receiving confirmation directly from Philz.

Inside Concord’s First Philz

The new cafe adds a Concord location to a company that already has shops in nearby Walnut Creek, Lafayette and San Ramon.

According to details Philz previously shared with Bay Area Telegraph, the approximately 1,800-square-foot cafe has seating for 29 customers. The company described it as its 84th location.

One distinctive feature is a custom mural by Oakland artist Alexandra Bowman. Her design depicts a neighborhood scene with people gathering, playing music and sharing coffee, using orange, mustard and sage tones. You can see the company’s first-look photos in our earlier coverage.

Coffee With a Side of Fall

Philz is known for its individually prepared pour-over coffees, with customers able to customize their milk and sweetness preferences.

The Concord opening also arrives just after the company’s fall menu launch on August 18. This year’s seasonal drinks include Apple Cinnamon Roll and Pecan Pie cold brews.

The Apple Cinnamon Roll combines cold brew with caramel apple butter, vanilla sauce and cinnamon. Pecan Pie features buttery pecan toffee and cinnamon, finished with sea salt.

Northern California’s seasonal pastry lineup includes a Pecan Pie Kouign Amann and a Cinnamon Maple Morning Bun. The offerings are available for a limited time while supplies last, according to Philz’s announcement.

Another Step in The Willows’ Makeover

Philz’s arrival is part of a larger redevelopment of Building C, the section of The Willows anchored by Eureka! (Yes, there’s an exclamation point in its name, we’re not yelling).

The project includes approximately 14,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, along with refreshed facades, upgraded patios and landscaping improvements. The shopping center says businesses are opening in phases, with a celebration of the Building C renovation scheduled for September 24, according to its project update.

For coffee drinkers, though, there’s no need to wait for that celebration. Concord’s Philz is already serving.

The cafe currently lists a 4 p.m. closing time every day. Check its location page or call (925) 338-7455 for current opening hours before an early morning visit.
