LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA — An underground water leak forced Reve Bistro to cancel several nights of dinner service last week. But the Lafayette French restaurant has good news for diners: It’s back in business.
In an email update, Reve said a leak in its parking lot forced the restaurant to close Wednesday through Friday. The disruption meant calling a few hundred people to let them know their dinner plans would need to change.
“Well – that wasn’t fun,” the restaurant wrote.
Thankfully, the closure was short-lived. Reve credited Brian and his team at Flowing Water Plumbing with getting the restaurant back in business on Saturday.
A return to dinner service
For anyone who received one of those cancellation calls, the update means it’s time to get another dinner on the calendar.
Reve, at 960 Moraga Road, Suite F, is run by chef Paul Magu-Lecugy and his wife, Laura. The neighborhood bistro serves French classics including French onion soup, steamed mussels and steak frites, with seating inside and on its garden patio.
The restaurant is also included in the Michelin Guide, whose inspectors highlight its patio, classic bistro cooking and predominantly French wine list.

What’s coming up
Along with the reopening news, Reve shared a few reasons to stop by this month.
Its “$10 Tuesdays” promotion includes $10 corkage for the first bottle and $10 French 75 cocktails. The restaurant’s website specifies that the corkage offer applies to the first 750-milliliter bottle, with additional bottles charged at the regular rate.
Harpist Wendy Tamis is also scheduled to play on the patio on Wednesday, September 9, Wednesday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 29, according to the email.
Reve normally serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. Its posted last seating is 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays.
