WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – Walnut Creek gelato fans finally have a date to circle on their calendars.
Bacio di Latte is planning its grand opening for December 11, 2026, according to Brian Hirahara of BH Development. And there’s a chance you’ll be able to get your first scoop before then.
“Bacio is planning a Grand Opening on 12/11/26 but hope to open sooner,” Hirahara told Bay Area Telegraph in an October 8 email.
That puts the planned celebration right in the middle of the holiday shopping season — a convenient time for downtown Walnut Creek to get a new dessert stop.

Perhaps Sooner?
Again, although a grand opening is set, stores often open sooner or hold a “soft open period.” December 11 is the planned grand opening date, but if Bacio is ready earlier, we’d be thrilled. Either way we’ll update you–join our free 925 News newsletter so we can keep you posted.
As Bay Area Telegraph previously reported, Bacio di Latte is coming to 1500 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, in the former Vineyard Vines space.
We’ve been fans of the brand’s Newport Beach location, so this is an opening we’ve been looking forward to.

What to Expect From Bacio di Latte
Bacio di Latte specializes in Italian-style gelato, with flavors including pistachio and Giandujotto, a chocolate-and-hazelnut combination. The company says it makes its gelato fresh in its shops daily, and its flavor selection also includes fruit sorbets.
The Walnut Creek announcement previously outlined plans for more than 22 regular flavors, along with the brand’s Ciocchino treats and an affogato bar.
For anyone unfamiliar with those options, the brand’s menu describes Ciocchinos as gelato served with Nutella or pistachio cream and crunchy nuts. An affogato pairs gelato with a shot of espresso.
In other words, you can go for a straightforward scoop, a more elaborate dessert, or a coffee-and-gelato combination.

Another New Neighbor Is Coming, Too
Hirahara also confirmed that the former retail space is being divided into two businesses.
“We’re creating 2 spaces,” he wrote. “The Corner space will be Chagee.”
That’s a Chinese tea shop that’s like the Starbucks of China. More on that one soon.
For now, we’re dreaming of gelato!
