California’s Best NY-Style Pizza is Coming to Brentwood

BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA – Brentwood pizza lovers have a big Saturday ahead.

Slice House by Tony Gemignani is scheduled to open October 17 at The Streets of Brentwood, bringing its New York-style slices, thick Detroit-style squares and two exclusive pizzas featuring Brentwood corn.

If you’ve followed Bay Area Telegraph for a while, you know we’re fans. We previously named the Walnut Creek restaurant our pick for the best New York-style pizza in the Bay Area.

Now East Contra Costa County residents will have another place to try it, with opening-day giveaways starting at 11 a.m.

Opening Saturday With Giveaways

The new restaurant is located at 2523 Sand Creek Road, Suite 120, inside The Streets of Brentwood.

According to Slice House’s October 12 opening announcement, the first 50 guests will receive a Slice House T-shirt. There will also be a raffle for a chance to win free pizza for a year.

Local owners Nitin and Mansi Bhatia are behind the restaurant. In its earlier announcement of the Brentwood location, the company said the business was expected to create around 30 full- and part-time jobs.

“As new members of the Brentwood community, we’re especially excited to open a Slice House nearby and bring Tony’s exceptional pizza to our neighbors,” Mansi Bhatia said in the opening announcement.

Two Pizzas Put Brentwood Corn Front and Center

The most locally distinctive part of the menu is a pair of signature pizzas created by Gemignani in partnership with the Bhatias.

Both are New York-style pizzas featuring Brentwood corn, and both will be available by the slice only, according to the announcement.

The Brentwood BBQ combines pulled pork, barbecue sauce, shredded mozzarella, corn, corn tortilla strips, sweety drop peppers, green onions and garlic oil.

The vegetarian A Slice of Brentwood features mozzarella, corn, tortilla strips, sweety drop peppers and serrano peppers, finished with Tajin aioli and garlic oil. Its name came from the winner of the restaurant’s local pizza box design competition.

For a city closely associated with sweet corn, that’s a fitting way to give a growing pizza brand a neighborhood connection.

More Than New York-Style Pizza

Although the New York-style slices are a major draw, the Brentwood restaurant will also serve Sicilian, Grandma and Detroit-style pizzas.

The broader menu includes whole pies, pasta, wings and salads, along with options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diners. Drinks include craft beer, wine and nonalcoholic selections.

The restaurant will have 26 indoor seats and another 20 on its outdoor patio. Takeout, online ordering and delivery are also planned.

When to Go

Slice House Brentwood’s announced hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The grand opening begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17.

You can find the address and restaurant information on Slice House’s Brentwood location page, and follow opening updates on Instagram.

If you’re hoping to grab one of those first 50 T-shirts, plan on making pizza an early lunch.
