WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – When a newcomer asked neighbors for the best restaurants in Walnut Creek, the answers quickly turned into a dining guide — complete with favorite dishes, date-night suggestions, and places people have been visiting for decades.
“We are new to the area and looking to try out some,” wrote Chris M., of Walnut Creek, in the October 22 discussion in a local online forum.
We selected and ordered these 15 restaurants by weighing repeated recommendations, specific passionate praise for individual restaurants, and the general enthusiasm of the people posting.
Caveat: This is an editorial ranking based on one neighborhood discussion, rather than a formal poll. It’s not perfect, but after 125+ replies on the original discussion, it gives a pretty solid sense of the best local spots!
Here are the standouts, counting down to the top pick.
15. Teleferic Barcelona

1500 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, second floor, Walnut Creek.
Teleferic Barcelona appeared in several recommendations, including lists from Ken J., of Walnut Creek, and Lina G., of Concord. Jen D., of Walnut Creek, also named it among her favorites.
The Spanish restaurant serves tapas and paella in its second-floor downtown location. It wasn’t a unanimous choice — another commenter recalled a disappointing paella — but its repeated positive mentions earned it a spot among the discussion’s leading picks.
