Califonia Man Creates Custom AI to Critique How You Load Your Dishwasher

In what might be the silliest use of generative AI to date, a California man (who also happens to be our EIC) has created a custom AI system to critique the way you load your dishwasher.

Dishwasher Feedback is a custom piece of AI software built using OpenAI’s CustomGPT system. It leverages the startup’s powerful visual AI to provide users with specific, detailed feedback on the way they’ve loaded their dishes.

This video shows the system in action:

Essentially, users open the custom GPT, which uses the same interface as the popular ChatGPT chatbot. They snap a photo of their loaded dishwasher using their phone, and upload the photo to the Dishwasher Feedback system.

The system, which was trained on official loading recommendations from dishwasher manufacturers, then analyzes the photo and provides specific feedback on the user’s dishwasher loading technique.

Example from the system

In the video, Dishwasher Feedback analyzes a photo and suggests changes like angling bowls down so that they drain more easily, moving an errant spatula to the utensil holder, and placing larger items on the lower rack.

The best thing about the Dishwasher Feedback AI system is that you can try it for yourself! Just head to https://chat.openai.com/g/g-MmY74pD4S-dishwasher-feedback, sign into your ChatGPT Plus account, and upload a photo of your loaded dishwasher.

You might learn a thing or two, save some water, and avoid breaking grandma’s china–all through the power of generative AI.
