People Are Shocked By Boyz II Men’s Star Spangled Banner at 49ers-Jets Game

At the Jets-49ers game at Levi Stadium here in the San Francisco Bay Area, a musical performance nearly stole the show from the athletes on the field!

Iconic R&B group Boyz II Men performed a stirring rendition of The Star Spangled Banner before the game. Suffice it to say that the performance set the Internet on fire, with tens of thousands of views on social platforms literally overnight.

Why the huge response?

The Star Spangled Banner is a notoriously tricky song vocally, even for one singer.

The lows are very low, and if you start on the wrong note–you’re toast. By the time you get to the song’s highest notes (on words like “glare”) you’ll sound like a Chipmunk.

That makes Boyz II Men’s performance even more impressive because they sing the anthem in 3-part harmony. Take the challenges faced by one singer, and multiply it by 3!

Clearly, they pulled it off!
