PLACERVILLE, CA – Local residents are sharing their insights on the best schools in Placerville online after a family planning to move to the area sought advice.
Natalie H., who plans to relocate with her husband and first-grade daughter, asked for information about public, private, and Catholic schools in Placerville.
Community members responded with numerous recommendations. Mo H. praised Indian Creek Elementary, highlighting its free buses, breakfast and lunch programs, and dedicated staff.
Lisa R. also recommended Indian Creek, stating, “After touring their school as well as other charter/private options, we chose [Indian Creek] and couldn’t be happier!”
Tina P. suggested the California Montessori Project (CMP) in Shingle Springs. She noted, “If you want your kiddos to go to Ponderosa High School, I would suggest the CMP Montessori School.”
She added that Ponderosa High offers great academics, music programs, sports, and FFA opportunities for those interested in animals.
Susan P. mentioned that the Placerville Union School District has wonderful schools like Louisiana Schnell and Sierra Elementary within city limits.
For Catholic school options, Eileen C. and Susan P. pointed out Holy Trinity in El Dorado Hills, approximately a 20-25 minute drive from Placerville.
Kim L. noted that most schools in the area are amazing with small districts. She added, “There is lots to do up here for first graders—amazing sport programs, karate, gymnastics, dance, etc.”
Other recommendations included Cedar Springs Waldorf School, suggested by Maya C., and the Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter School, recommended by Susan C.
At the end of the discussion, Keith L. advised considering Camino Union School, a K-8 school with a low student-to-teacher ratio and bus service to Placerville.
