Dad’s BBQ Next Generation Restaurant Will Open Soon in Walnut Creek Near Rossmoor

Walnut Creek, CA – There’s some great barbecue places in the Bay Area, and specifically in the East Bay. But in many cases, you need to drive through the tunnel in order to get to them.

Some of the places in Oakland have won global acclaim for their food. And there’s a handful of local places that are looking to give them a run for their money.

Now, there’s a new BBQ game coming to town!

Fans of classic barbecue are in for a treat as Dad’s BBQ Next Generation is preparing to open its doors at 1970 Tice Valley Blvd, Suite A-B.

This is the former local of Napa Deli across from Rossmoor, which closed almost immediately after opening last year.

Now, Dad’s BBQ is taking its place. This marks a new chapter for the family-owned business, which has been serving the community for over 25 years.

The restaurant is being run by the third generation of the Hicks family, continuing the legacy of Dennis Hicks Sr., affectionately known as “Dad,” who founded Dad’s BBQ in 1999. The original location in Oakland became well-known for its signature barbecue and its mission to give back to the community by supporting formerly incarcerated individuals with career opportunities.

The new location in Walnut Creek promises to carry on the family tradition of serving up beloved recipes in honor of Dad’s memory. An official opening date has yet to be announced, but the company’s website and social media indicate it is “coming soon.”
