5 Extremely Fun Things to Do in the 925 This Memorial Day Weekend

Ready to kick off summer close to home? From Concord to Livermore, the 925 is packed with family festivals, outdoor art, and even midnight-oil basketball. Here are five can’t-miss picks running Saturday – Monday, May 24-26.

1. Fly a Giant Kite at San Ramon’s Art & Wind Festival

When & where: Sun–Mon, May 25–26, 11 a.m.–6 p.m., Central Park, San Ramon
Think colorful kites the size of school buses, more than 100 artisan booths, food trucks, and a live-music stage—all free. New this year: a commemorative field of flags and a helicopter landing for the kids. Parking is tight, so use the free shuttles from Iron Horse Middle School.

2. Treat the Kids at Bay Area KidFest, Concord

When & where: Sat–Mon, May 24-26, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. (Mon until 5 p.m.), Toyota Pavilion, 2000 Kirker Pass Rd.
Three days of nonstop bounce houses, BMX stunt shows, STEM zones and live bands. One ticket covers unlimited rides and activities; parents can duck into the shaded food court for local BBQ and funnel cakes. Bring canned food for the Food Bank and get $1 off admission.

3. Sip & Groove in Livermore Wine Country

Pick your vibe:

Either way, dozens of Livermore Valley tasting rooms are rolling out lawn games, rosé flights and picnic specials all weekend. Designate a driver or book a shuttle.

4. Shop, Snack & Line-Dance at Lafayette’s Art Market in the Parklet

When & where: Sun, May 25, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., First St. @ Golden Gate Way
This free pop-up turns downtown’s new parklet into a mini-street fair: local makers, lawn games, food trucks, plus an afternoon line-dance lesson from champion coach Timea Potys. Great pit stop before or after a walk at nearby Lafayette Reservoir.

Here’s our story.

5. Cheer (or Play) at “Memorial Day Mayhem” Youth Hoops, Walnut Creek

When & where: Sat–Sun, May 24-25, All day, local gym sites (HQ: Tice Valley Gym)
More than 80 boys’ and girls’ AAU teams from across Northern California square off in a two-day tournament. Games are open to spectators—perfect if the family sports fan needs an indoor break from the heat. Team registration is still open.

Weather snapshot

Saturday looks like the sunniest, warmest day (inland highs upper-70s to low-80s), with onshore breezes returning Sunday and Monday. Pack layers and sunscreen.

Enjoy the long weekend, and remember to pause for a local Memorial Day ceremony if you can.
