“Octopretzel” to Headline Free Kidchella Concert in Danville on July 16

DANVILLE, Calif. — Kidchella’s 2025 season will wrap up on Wednesday, July 16, when Bay Area favorites Octopretzel bring their playful folk sound to the Danville Town Green. The free family concert series is presented by the Town of Danville and the Danville Library.

Festivities begin at 11:15 a.m. with an outdoor storytime led by library staff on the lawn beside the library. At noon Octopretzel take the stage for an hour-long set, and children can stay afterward for hands-on arts-and-crafts activities until approximately 1:30 p.m.

Formed more than 15 years ago, Octopretzel is a collective of musicians and educators who weave guitars, mandolin, hand drums and the occasional puppet into lively, interactive shows.

Their original and traditional songs blend folk, bluegrass and global rhythms, celebrating nature, feelings and community in ways that appeal to kids and parents alike. The current lineup features vocalist-guitarist Melita Silberstein, percussionist and puppeteer Jen Miriam Altman, multi-instrumentalist David Doostan, vocalist-percussionist Carrie Staller and mandolinist Casey Yurrow.
