WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA — Only a few months after longtime Greek favorite Opa! served its last flaming saganaki, the coveted downtown space at 1532 N. Main St. is suddenly busy again.
Culinary whiplash, anyone?
WC Kitchen & Bar quietly soft-opened over the July 4 weekend, giving food-lovers practically zero down-time between the old tenant’s farewell and the new spot’s debut.
A Flash-Fast Reboot for the 1532 N. Main Storefront
Opa!’s April closure felt abrupt, but it turns out the hiatus was remarkably short–at least in terms of having a restaurant at the North Main spot.

Construction crews moved in almost immediately, and by early July the new signage was up, tables were set, and the kitchen was back up and running.
The result: Walnut Creek’s fastest large-restaurant turnover in recent memory.

What to Expect at WC Kitchen & Bar
WC Kitchen and Bar’s new menu keeps one foot in familiar American comfort food while weaving in Indian and Southeast-Asian accents—think butter-chicken naan tacos and chicken tikka-masala flatbread rubbing shoulders with Jake’s Smash Burger and lobster risotto.
The kitchen also leans into global seafood, rolling out a mango cod ceviche, an ahi-tuna poke bowl, and a grill-seared sea bass with tamarind reduction that nods to South-Asian street flavors.

Why the Fast Flip Matters
High-visibility restaurant spaces in downtown Walnut Creek rarely stay dark for long (even with rents over $20k per month), but a 90-day turnaround is unusual even here.
For diners, it means less time lamenting a closure and more time discovering something new.
