A New Jewelry Store Just Opened in Broadway Plaza, and It Has a Unique Business Model

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – San Francisco-based jewelry brand Rocksbox has opened a new brick-and-mortar store at Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza, taking over the former Piercing Pagoda location.

The shop is part of Rocksbox’s national expansion plan in 2025 – the company, which has been e-commerce only for the past 10 years, is branching into physical retail after launching stores in San Francisco and New York earlier this year.

According to a company announcement, Rocksbox hosted a grand opening event in Walnut Creek last month with refreshments and giveaways to introduce local shoppers to its concept.

The boutique features a relaxed, try-on-friendly atmosphere where customers can sample pieces from popular designers like Kendra Scott, Kate Spade, and others alongside Rocksbox’s own private label, according to reporting by Patch.

Rocksbox’s parent company is Signet Jewelers – owner of Kay, Zales, Jared and other major jewelers – signaling the brand’s push to blend online services with in-person retail.

The new Walnut Creek store underscores Broadway Plaza’s continued retail growth. The outdoor mall is welcoming several new businesses this year – Rocksbox joins recent additions like Mejuri and Rivian, as well as upcoming arrivals including an Abercrombie & Fitch and Original Joe’s restaurant.
