Orinda’s Biggest Pharmacy is Covered in “Store Closing” Signs

ORINDA, CALIFORNIA – It’s a painful sight for people who have relied on Orinda, California’s largest pharmacy for years or decades.
The Rite Aid pharmacy across from the community center in Orinda Community Park is officially shutting down, as we reported previously.
The closure is part of a nationwide bankruptcy for Rite Aid that will see the closure of thousands of stores across California and elsewhere in the United States.

The pharmacy portion of Orinda’s Rite Aid has officially closed, and other stores, like the Palo Verde location in Walnut Creek, California, are fully shut down.
Now, the Orinda Rite Aid has a short time to sell off literally everything in the store, down to the shelves and fixtures.
To that end, the Orinda store is now covered in store closing signs. Other signs read that everything must go.

It’s a sad end to a store that has been serving the Orinda community for a long time and that many locals rely on.

Prescriptions are being transferred to the CVS in downtown Orinda automatically. We’ll also put in a good word for the Medicine Shoppe, which is right near Rite Aid, albeit much smaller.

The Rite Aid in Orinda was both large and architecturally distinctive. We’re not sure what will come into the large building—which also served as an overflow parking lot for the popular weekend farmers market—but we’ll keep you in the loop as soon as we know.
