Elderly Man Beaten, Robbed Outside Rossmoor Safeway, Police Say
Walnut Creek, CA – Four people are in custody after police say they assaulted an elderly man and stole his belongings late Thursday night near Rossmoor, specifically outside the Safeway directly across from the retirement community according to our research.
According to Walnut Creek Police, officers were called to the 1900 block of Tice Valley Boulevard around 11 p.m. on August 7. They found the victim with significant injuries and learned that four female suspects had allegedly attacked him before fleeing in a vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Antonina Abdulwajid, 18, and Jaycee Behnke, 18, both of Concord, along with two juveniles from Walnut Creek, ages 17 and 15. All four face felony charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm), causing injury to an elder, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Police say witness statements and “technology” (probably license plate cameras) helped identify the suspect vehicle, which officers located shortly after the incident. The two adults were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, and the juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall.
Detectives are continuing to investigate, but police say there is no ongoing threat to the community. The victim’s name is being withheld for privacy.
