CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – A little slice of France is coming soon to the burbs here in Concord, California, by way of San Francisco, and it promises amazing croissants and other French specialties from a local chef-owner.
The new place is called The French Spot. It will be located near Trader Joe’s in the Oak Grove Plaza Shopping Center (785 Oak Grove Road), on the border between Concord and Walnut Creek.

The Bay Area Telegraph spoke with chef-owner Vincent Attali, who shared an update on progress–and a prospective opening date!
The French Spot’s main location is in the city, in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood. Although Attali says that he loves being surrounded by three other fantastic bakeries, he lives locally in the East Bay and wanted to bring city-level, amazing treats from a chef-owner to his own community.
The French Spot promises to do that here in Concord. The bakery is known for their Ube Mochicro, a mochi croissant with a glossy, purple ube glaze.

They also have French classics like my personal healthy-eating nemesis, the kouign amann, as well as pain au chocolat and almond croissants.
When we visited the future location of The French Spot, Attali let the Bay Area Telegraph have a quick look inside the future store. They’re currently installing a massive oven in the back, as well as a special glassed-in room which will be kept extremely cold, allowing The French Spot to make the buttery doughs for their signature treats.

Attali also said that his wife and co-owner, Maria Zapata, will paint a mural in the central space at the front of the future bakery.
The French Spot was originally slated to open in August of 2025, but construction is still ongoing. Attali shared that he hopes to launch the new Concord location in October of this year, and certainly before the Winter holidays.
Oak Grove Plaza shopping center is fast becoming a little culinary hotspot in the far East Bay. Boichik Bagels opened there last year, and owner Emily Winston told the Bay Area Telegraph that she chose the location partly because the French Spot would also be opening there.
Attali promised to keep us updated as soon as the store is ready to open. Make sure to join our free 925 News newsletter so we can pass on that info to you as soon as we have it.
