5 Neighborhoods in the 925 Where People Love to Trick or Treat

Looking for lively blocks, big turnout, and fun decor in the 925? We did some digging to see where people are planning to go this year.

Here are five neighborhoods that consistently draw crowds and candy on Halloween night. Think we missed something? Email tom@bayareatelegraph.com

Walnut Creek — Parkmead

Just south of downtown, Parkmead’s flat, walkable streets and closely spaced homes make for dense candy-per-minute runs. Local parents on community threads point to streets like Arlene Dr. and nearby loops as hot spots, with lots of porch setups and kid traffic.

Lafayette — Burton Valley (and nearby Happy Valley/Trail loops)

Burton Valley’s family density and looped streets around Burton Valley Elementary are a long-running Halloween magnet. Real estate and neighborhood guides have called it Lafayette’s trick-or-treat epicenter; Happy Valley and the Trail-adjacent blocks also see strong participation. Plan for prime time crowds and mind the narrow streets.

Orinda — Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow’s wide lots still come alive on Oct. 31 — the Lombardy Gate decor is a local tradition, and residents note it as Orinda’s premier spot for trick-or-treating. Expect enthusiastic displays and steady foot traffic in the early evening.

Pleasanton — Vintage Hills area

East of downtown, Vintage Hills gets frequent shout-outs for family-friendly, walkable streets and lots of participation. If you’re aiming for Pleasanton without the mega-crowds of gated enclaves, this cluster of blocks is a reliable bet.

San Ramon — Windemere and Gale Ranch

These master-planned neighborhoods are famous locally for decorated homes, big kid turnout, and easy sidewalks. Multiple local guides call out Windemere, Gale Ranch, and even Twin Creeks as go-to areas with a safe, walkable Halloween vibe.

Bonus: Reader Ron B wrote in to say “The best neighborhood for trick or treat is Westaire in Martinez. Safe great neighborhood with crazy decorations.”

Happy Halloween!
