After Massive Construction, Walnut Creek’s Century-Old Jeweler Has a Beautiful New Home

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – That facade of one of Walnut Creek’s most iconic jewelry stores was starting to look a bit dated.

That’s understandable, though, when you’ve been in business for over a century.

The response? Tear everything out, and totally revamp the store, building a stunning two-level new home that could perhaps last another century.

The jewelry is Davidson & Licht. And after a massive construction project that took months, they’ve now moved into their totally renewed space on Main Street in downtown Walnut Creek.

In September 2024, Davidson & Licht’s remodel plans became public: the store’s prior renovation was “over nine years ago,” and the new project was expected to take about 10 months. During construction, the jeweler planned to operate out of a temporary space in Broadway Plaza (in the former P.F. Chang’s location).

By February 2025, the move was already underway, with Davidson & Licht operating “around the block” while its North Main storefront was being renovated. We covered the temporary move at the time.

In early 2026, the classic store reopened in a very beautiful new space that feels as befitting of Union Square as it does of Walnut Creek. The facade is updated and looks modern–with tons of glass and stone–while keeping a hint of the brand’s older pedigree in its logo and signage.

That makes sense, as Davidson & Licht has been around since 1916. They’re not about to totally change their look!

When I stopped by, the move was so new that electrical lines were still hanging out of some finishes on the facade!

This classic jeweler is joined by Spitz Jewelers next door, and the equally impressive–albeit totally different–Highline jewelers down the street.

Congrats to Davidson & Licht on the big reno!
