Walnut Creek’s Little Pear Restaurant is Closing Forever

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – We’re going to miss the pretzel!

Starting earlier this month, we got tips that Little Pear restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek would be closing forever.

There was no confirmed closure at first, though, and staff members merely told us that they weren’t sure if the restaurant would stick around.

Now, it’s official.

The Little Pear, a popular downtown Walnut Creek restaurant at 1699 N. California Blvd., is closing for good this coming Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Bay Area Telegraph confirmed by phone with the restaurant.

The restaurant is part of chef Rodney Worth’s local Worth Group (which also includes The Peasant & The Pear in Danville, The Peasant’s Courtyard in Alamo, and The Bourbon Pear in Livermore). Worth’s bio notes The Little Pear opened in Walnut Creek in 2023.

I always enjoyed the warm pretzels there especially. It was a nice, casual option just a bit off the beaten path from downtown.

People liked it, too. The restaurant won a Best New Restaurant award from Diablo Magazine in 2024.

So why it is closing? Little Pear hasn’t said anything officially. But we suspect it’s because Worth will soon be taking over the restaurant at Rossmoor.

Will the new Rossmoor restaurant be called “The Little Pear”, keeping the name of the original Walnut Creek spot? If it is, remember that you heard it here first!
