ORINDA, CALIFORNIA – When rain hits the Bay Area, as it’s been doing for the last several days, things on the roads can get slick.
And that means an increase in accidents.
On Monday, the Bay Area Telegraph observed a big accident on Highway 24 that caused afternoon delays, and took out a portion of the metal guardrails near the Wilder Road exit Westbound.

Photos we took around late morning show a mangled, flattened guardrail and scattered debris along the roadway, with a damaged Toyota Tundra pickup truck loaded onto a flatbed tow truck.

A California Highway Patrol vehicle was also visible on scene as crews worked the area near the “Wilder Road” exit signage.

A smaller white sedan also appeared to be involved, or at least had stopped nearby.

To be clear, the exact cause of the crash was not immediately determined. However, the timing lines up with a wet, slick commute window when standing water and reduced visibility can quickly turn routine driving into a hazard.

In short, be careful out there–it’s wet and the roads can get treacherous!
