Concord Woman Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run in Pleasant Hill

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – A Concord woman has been arrested after a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Pleasant Hill early Sunday morning, according to police.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on March 8 at the intersection of Contra Costa Boulevard and Taylor Boulevard, a busy corridor in the city. Officers with the Pleasant Hill Police Department responded to reports of a collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old female cyclist with critical injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending notification of her family.

Police say the driver of the vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived, turning the crash into a hit-and-run investigation.

Investigators quickly identified the vehicle involved as a dark-colored Mazda SUV. The vehicle was later located parked and unoccupied several blocks away in Concord, with damage consistent with a recent collision.

Authorities tracked down the registered owner and suspected driver, Angelina Solis, 45, of Concord, and took her into custody shortly afterward.

Solis was booked into the Contra Costa County jail on multiple charges, including Felony hit-and-run resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, though the case remains under active investigation.

As always, suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Pleasant Hill police say detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant information to contact the department at (925) 288-4600.
