Concord Woman Charged With Manslaughter After Fatal Pleasant Hill Crash

A Concord woman has been charged in connection with a fatal Pleasant Hill crash earlier this month, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old Angelina Marina Solis now faces gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and several other felony charges after a March 8 collision that left a 41-year-old woman dead.

According to the DA’s office, Solis was charged on March 17 after investigators said she was driving northbound on Contra Costa Boulevard at about 1:49 a.m. when she ran a red light at Taylor Boulevard in Pleasant Hill. Prosecutors said her vehicle struck the victim and that Solis then fled the scene.

Pleasant Hill police responded to 911 calls from bystanders and rendered aid, but the victim died at the scene, the DA’s office said. Another person who was with the victim was not injured.

Initial reports said that the victim was riding a bicycle. The statement from the DA suggests that the person was walking. We’re not sure which is accurate–we’ll have to keep following the case as more details come out.

Prosecutors say Solis has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the allegations against her. She is currently being held on $350,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27.

As always, suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
