A Very Fancy San Ramon Candy Story Has Closed Forever

SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA – The 925 has several terrific old-school candy spots. Zoonie’s in Lafayette is one of my favorites, and Danville Chocolates is awesome, too.

Down in San Ramon, though, we once had a store that focused more on a bespoke, very fancy candy experience.

Sadly, that one has now shut down.

Miette Patisserie at City Center in San Ramon has permanently closed. A handwritten sign in the window shared the news when I stopped by this week.

Miette sold little bags of very fresh candies from around the world, as well as unique holiday items.

They also had macarons and a selection of different fancy little cupcakes and pastries.

On the weekends, they handed out free cotton candy to kids, although it often seemed like their cotton candy machine was broken when we stopped in!

In the back of the store, Miette had more traditional binds of bulk candy, which my kids always enjoyed visiting.

The San Ramon shop opened at City Center in late 2022, when Miette joined the growing lineup of Bay Area-born food businesses at the upscale retail and dining complex.

Miette itself has also been in a period of change. Last fall, the company closed its longtime Hayes Valley location in San Francisco and opened a new flagship on Fillmore Street, while still operating other Bay Area outposts. At the time, reporting on that move noted the San Ramon store as part of Miette’s remaining footprint.

Miette has a location at the Ferry Building. So it seems like they’re leaning more into the downtown spots.

For people who were looking for Easter candies–or gift items in general–it’s an unfortunate loss for San Ramon.
