Giant Sidewalk Sale for Local Merchants Coming to Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA – Downtown Lafayette businesses are preparing to move some of their merchandise outdoors for a community-wide sidewalk sale in August.

The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participating stores will offer merchandise and special promotions both on the sidewalks and inside their businesses.

The event is timed for the heart of the back-to-school shopping season, although the Chamber says shoppers can also expect items for themselves and for upcoming gift-giving occasions.

More than two dozen Lafayette businesses are currently listed as participants, including clothing boutiques, bicycle shops, home decor stores, wellness businesses, a bookstore, a florist, a nursery and several specialty retailers.

Participating merchants announced by the Chamber include:

All Ages Recreation Downtown and Whitchurch Glass Designs, Barrel Shoppe, Big Woof Pet Supplies & Spa, Cambiati Wellness Programs, Clover, CrossWaterCreek Outfitters, Emerson Grace Design, Five Little Monkeys, Floral Arts Florist, Giving Partners Thrift Shop, Hank & Frank Bicycles, Harper Greer, Hills and Grant Interior Design, Lamorinda Music, Luck, Makers Market, Misto Lino, Orchard Nursery, Reasonable Books, SanctuaireMD, Sharp Bicycle, StretchLab, SUNMED Modern Wellness, Vintage Vida, Wax A Peel, Ware Designs Jewelers and White Barn Home.

The exact offers will vary by business. Cambiati Wellness Programs is advertising 20% off select herbs and vitamins, while Wax A Peel plans to offer 15% off retail products and services purchased and scheduled on the day of the event.

Other merchants may announce their promotions as the sale approaches. Store hours may also differ, so shoppers planning to visit a particular business should confirm its schedule before heading downtown.

Unlike a traditional street festival, the Sidewalk Sale will not be confined to a single closed-off block. Promotions will be spread among participating businesses throughout Lafayette, encouraging visitors to walk between the city’s different shopping areas.

The sale is one of several retail-focused events organized by the Lafayette Chamber’s Retail Committee this year. The committee also organized the Lafayette Artisan Walk in May and is planning Witch Way to Mocktails for October 24.

The Chamber is continuing to accept applications from Lafayette retailers interested in joining the Sidewalk Sale. An updated list of businesses, hours and individual promotions is expected to be maintained on the Chamber’s shopping website.

The Lafayette Sidewalk Sale will take place Saturday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at participating businesses throughout Lafayette.
