DANVILLE, CALIFORNIA – Danville is turning a downtown outdoor space into a new destination for live entertainment, beginning with two special events later this month.
The Town of Danville is partnering with Sixth Line Studios to present the first public events at Theatre Plaza, an outdoor gathering space at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery at 233 Front Street.
The debut lineup will include an adults-only jazz evening on Friday, August 21, followed by an outdoor fashion show featuring two downtown Danville businesses on Friday, August 28.
Live Jazz Starts the Series
The new series will begin with Jazz and Juice from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on August 21.
A professional jazz quartet will perform as guests enjoy complimentary drinks and light snacks in the outdoor plaza. Town officials describe the event as a relaxed summer gathering centered on music and community connection.
Jazz and Juice is open only to guests ages 21 and older. Tickets are required. You can get them here.
Downtown Boutiques Take the Runway
One week later, Theatre Plaza will be transformed into an outdoor runway for A Couture Closet Live Fashion Show.
Models, actors and community members will showcase clothing from A Dress Change and Couture Closet, two consignment boutiques located in downtown Danville.
The event will also feature refreshments, music and a live emcee. Attendees will be able to shop the looks featured during the show.
The fashion show will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on August 28. Tickets are required.
A New Use for the Village Theatre Plaza
The two events will give Danville residents their first opportunity to experience Theatre Plaza as a dedicated outdoor entertainment venue.
Although Danville already hosts free concerts and activities at Prospect Park Plaza, Theatre Plaza is a separate space located at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery on Front Street.
Both events are specifically set up to take place outdoors, taking advantage of the still-nice Summer weather.
