Luxury Walnut Creek Car Dealership Just Sold to a Huge National Group
WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA — One of Walnut Creek’s most prominent luxury car dealerships has a new owner.
Sonic Automotive, a publicly traded national dealership group, has acquired Porsche Walnut Creek from Fletcher Jones Automotive Group. The transaction closed on August 25 and included real estate associated with the dealership, although the companies did not disclose the purchase price.
The dealership’s website has already been updated to describe Porsche Walnut Creek as “a Sonic Automotive Company.”
The New Owner Is a Huge National Company
Sonic Automotive is far larger than the boutique Porsche dealership it just acquired.
The Charlotte-based Fortune 300 company operates 173 automotive and powersports franchises at 145 locations across 21 states. Its dealerships represent 24 automotive brands and 15 powersports brands, and the company employs more than 11,000 people.
Porsche Walnut Creek becomes Sonic’s sixth Porsche dealership nationwide.

Sonic is also not a newcomer to this part of the East Bay. The company already operates Mercedes-Benz of Walnut Creek, along with Concord Honda and Concord Toyota. Its broader California portfolio includes dealerships representing BMW, Lexus, Jaguar, Land Rover, MINI and several other brands.

What Changes for Porsche Customers?
There’s a new owner. But it’s not yet clear how much will actually change for drivers.
Porsche Walnut Creek will remain at 2555 North Main Street, immediately off Interstate 680.

Sonic also said customers will continue to be served by the dealership’s existing team, including General Manager Mike Pardini. Pardini is a Walnut Creek native who has worked with Porsche customers at the dealership for more than two decades.
The Porsche center has served Walnut Creek since 2006. Fletcher Jones took control of the dealership in 2023, meaning its period as the owner lasted only a little more than three years.
The sale also completes Fletcher Jones Automotive Group’s exit from Northern California. Fletcher Jones said it has been concentrating its dealership portfolio in markets where it has a larger, more established luxury automotive presence.
Porsche Dealerships Rarely Come Up for Sale
Porsche Walnut Creek was a particularly attractive acquisition because established Porsche dealerships do not change hands very often.
The United States had only 204 Porsche dealerships at the beginning of 2026, according to The Presidio Group, the firm that advised Fletcher Jones on the sale. That is one of the smaller dealership networks among major automotive brands.
What Happens to the Planned New Porsche Dealership?
The ownership change also raises a big local question.
Before the sale, Fletcher Jones obtained city approval for a large new Porsche dealership on the former Masses Sports Bar property near North Main Street and Second Avenue.
The approved project would replace the old restaurant and several neighboring structures with a three-level Porsche sales and service center. Plans include two showrooms, a 22-bay service department, customer lounges and indoor and rooftop storage for a large inventory of vehicles.
The project was designed to replace Porsche Walnut Creek’s current facility while keeping the dealership in Walnut Creek.
The acquisition announcement says Sonic purchased Porsche Walnut Creek and its “related real estate,” but it does not identify every parcel included in the transaction. It also does not specifically address the approved new dealership project or provide an updated construction timeline.
So, we’re not yet sure what impact (if any) the sale has on that project. But it’s something to watch.
For the moment, Porsche Walnut Creek remains open at its existing North Main Street location, with the same name and much of the same team — just with a much bigger parent behind it.
