SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA – Dos Coyotes Border Cafe has closed its San Ramon restaurant, ending the Northern California chain’s presence in the Bay Area.
The restaurant at 3191 Crow Canyon Place closed Thursday, September 24, according to Patch’s report on the company’s announcement. Dos Coyotes thanked San Ramon customers for their visits over the years but did not give a reason for the closure.
For local diners, it is the end of a nearly decade-long run. Dos Coyotes opened at Crow Canyon Commons in May 2017, bringing its Southwestern-inspired burritos, tacos, salads and salsa to San Ramon. The chain had also operated a restaurant at the Willows shopping center in Concord.
Dos Coyotes itself is still in business. Founder Bobby Coyote opened the first restaurant in North Davis on January 5, 1991, drawing on the Mexican food he grew up eating in Los Angeles and the Southwestern flavors he encountered in Santa Fe. Its remaining locations are concentrated around Davis and the Sacramento area, including restaurants in Folsom, Elk Grove and Roseville.
One detail may confuse anyone looking for a final San Ramon meal: as of Sunday, September 27, the chain’s locations page still lists the Crow Canyon Place restaurant with regular hours. That listing appears to be out of date following the announced closure.
