BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA – A man was hospitalized after being stabbed several times at Four Legs Brewing in Brentwood on Friday night, and police say a suspect was arrested at the scene.
The victim is expected to survive, according to Brentwood police. Investigators described the stabbing as an isolated incident.
Police arrest suspect at the scene
Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Elkins Way at approximately 7:58 p.m. on Friday, October 2, according to a police statement published by Contra Costa Herald.
Responding officers found a man with multiple stab wounds to his lower torso. They began providing medical aid before emergency medical personnel arrived, and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect, a 53-year-old man from Tallahassee, Florida, was still at the scene when officers arrived. He was taken into custody without incident, according to the department’s account.
The police statement did not identify either man or explain what led to the stabbing.
Brewery says staff are safe but shaken
Four Legs Brewing addressed the incident in a statement posted Saturday morning and reproduced by Contra Costa Herald.
“Our staff is safe, but understandably shaken by what happened,” the brewery said.
The business expressed concern for the victim and his loved ones, thanked Brentwood police for responding quickly, and credited patrons who stepped in to help prevent further harm.
The brewery also announced shortened hours for Saturday, October 3, opening from noon to 6 p.m. following the incident.
Four Legs Brewing is located at 2010 Elkins Way, Suite 120. Michelle and Erik Bacher opened the brewery in April 2021, creating a gathering place that welcomes families and dogs and serves its own craft beers.
Investigation remains ongoing
Police said the investigation is continuing and that they were not releasing additional information at the time of their statement.
