It finally feels like Spring is on the way here in the Bay Area. And with that comes the return of our amazing wildflowers, and anticipation of superblooms.
Here are photos of some of the flowers we’ve seen so far this spring.
Golden Poppies
The state flower of California, these stunning orange flowers are starting to crop up around the East Bay. This one is at the Lafayette Reservoir.
Rosemary in Bloom
Rosemary is a popular herb, but it’s also used as an ornamental bush in the Bay Area. And, it has beautiful blue flowers that are starting to come out.
You’d have no idea this is the same herb you use in your kitchen.
Stop for Succulents
Even succulents and cacti are starting to sprout flowers as the weather changes.
Flowering Trees
Several species of early-season flowering trees are indeed getting an early start, even as the East Bay’s gnarled oak trees are still bare.
Camellias Finishing Up
Camellias have been blooming for a bit. Their season is ending, but many flowers are still out.
It’s a nice reminder that Spring is indeed just around the corner.
