Dramatic Sky Over Mount Diablo – Photo of the Day

You can see Mount Diablo from nearly anywhere in the East Bay. It’s a constant presence, a bit like Mount Fuji in traditional Japanese woodcuts.

One of the nice things about the mountain’s constant presence is that we get to see it in a variety of different weather conditions, lighting conditions and more. Sometimes, there’s even snow!

Today, while cresting the hill overlooking Lafayette, California on Deer Hill Road, I saw Mount Diablo under an incredibly dramatic, dappled sky. The clouds were dramatically lit, and verdant green grass (thanks, atmospheric river!) added a pop of green to the foreground.

There was even a surprising, small sliver of orange on the horizon–a remnant of the sunrise.

I had to stop and take a photo of this dramatic Lafayette scene. I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve taken over 100,000 photos on my iPhone. As a pro photographer, there are a handful of tips and tricks that I use every day. I compiled them into a free guide, 5 Tips for Taking Pro-Quality Photos On Your iPhone. Grab a copy today.
