After an extremely long wait, Tesla has finally begun to deliver its much-hyped Tesla CyberTruck to early adopters. Many of the first people to receive a Cybertruck off Tesla’s long waiting list are original shareholders and investors in the company.
It just so happens that many of those people live here in the Bay Area! That means we’re one of the first places in the country to start seeing Cybertrucks out on the road.

The Bay Area Telegraph has been following these bizarre electric vehicles around the Bay Area. We spotted at least three individual Cybertrucks driving through the East Bay.
Yesterday, we got our best look so far at one of these trucks in the wild. The particular Cybertruck in question was driving into City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, California.

There’s absolutely no question that this vehicle makes a statement. You’re not going to look at it and mistake it for anything other than a bizarre and futuristic means of transportation.
With its stainless steel sides and sharp lines, it’s reminiscent of the DeLorean made famous in the Back to the Future films. We can almost hear “The Power of Love” playing as one of these things drives by.

Aside from their bizarre styling, Cybertrucks seem to behave like a fairly standard pickup truck. The one we saw most recently was quietly driving along San Ramon’s suburban streets. It looks like some kind of strange, modern sculpture that came to life and was ambling around the town.

We are old enough to remember when seeing a Prius on the road here in the Bay Area was equally exciting. Now, of course, those kinds of hybrids and electric vehicles are common everywhere in the world.
Perhaps the same thing will happen with the Cybertruck. Maybe Elon Musk is onto something, and every vehicle will look like this in the future.

Then again, probably not. But in the meantime, at least we can gawk at these strange, moving sculptures as they cruise the Bay Area’s roads.
