A Celebrated Burger is Now Available in Lamorinda, and It’s Slathered in Bacon Jam

Chef Alvin Cailan, the celebrated culinary mind behind Eggslut, just brought his newest venture, Sweet Onion Burger (SOB), to the Bay Area. In collaboration with Local Kitchens, this latest project is inspired by the classic Oklahoma-style onion burger, showcasing Cailan’s signature creativity.

Cailan’s menu at SOB centers on thinly shaved sweet onions, a hallmark of the Oklahoma-style burger, and incorporates a variety of unique sauces, including his special SOB sauce, Bacon Jam, and Hickory Sauce. The concept promises to deliver “affordable luxury,” offering elevated flavors at accessible prices.

“Being a part of a company that envisions the future of food as I do feels auspicious,”
Cailan said, “I’ve spent over 15 years perfecting my craft, but I’ve never brought this burger style to market. Many are now trying, but few are doing it right.”

Known for Eggslut, the globally popular restaurant that redefined the gourmet egg sandwich, Cailan has continued to make his mark on the culinary world with projects like Amboy and his YouTube series The Burger Show.

That series has received an impressive 129 million views.

Now, he’s diving into the Bay Area’s burger scene, aiming to deliver a fresh take on a beloved classic.

Great news; you get this “elevated” burger right here in the 925! Local Kitchens in Lafayette, California is offering it now. Grab one soon because many of these collaborations end up being time limited!

The SOB menu also includes grilled cheese, two fries, and a Molasses Chocolate Chunk Cookie.

You can also get the burger throughout the Bay Area. It’s at the Local Kitchens in Los Gatos, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Campbell, Cupertino, Novato, Lafayette, Mill Valley, Davis, Roseville, and Redwood Shores.

And while you’re there, try falafel from Yalla, which we featured last week.
