Firefighters Battle Wildfire in Concord’s Lime Ridge

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – Firefighters from Contra Costa County and CAL FIRE responded to a vegetation fire on September 30 in Lime Ridge Open Space, located in Concord, California.

The fire was reported at 3:06 p.m. by a driver who saw smoke and called 911.

Engine 322 was the first on scene and confirmed the fire had spread to about one acre, with the potential to grow to over 50 acres.

Fire crews quickly launched a direct attack and, with support from the CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit, managed to contain the blaze to roughly five acres.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Lime Ridge is a popular open space area between Concord and Walnut Creek, frequently visited by hikers and nature enthusiasts.
