Review of United Dumplings Rockridge, a Handmade Dumpling Joint

United Dumplings is a dumpling place on College Avenue in Berkeley. It serves up hand-made dumplings that combine traditional Asian flavors with modern Californian ingredients.

United Dumplings pulls from a variety of dumpling types, including potstickers, traditional steamed dumplings, and soup dumplings. They also have noodle dishes and other more substantial entrees.

You can watch a staff member laboriously hand-form the dumplings as you eat. The restaurant had a comfortable interior, which is nice, but nothing fancy.

Its prices are on the steep side, likely reflecting its prime Berkeley location. I got food for two adults and three kids for lunch and it ran to $69.18.

The dumplings are good, and the quality of the wrapper is especially high. But I’d like to see a broader selection, with steamed buns, shumai and more dumpling styles.
