LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA — A fully built restaurant in downtown Lafayette appears to be for sale, but there is one big catch: the public listing does not say which restaurant it is.
A listing on the website BizBuySell, a brokerage for operating businesses, titled “Great Corner Location in Downtown Lafayette! Fully Built Restaurant,” describes a 2,700-square-foot restaurant in Lafayette with an asking price of $285,000.
It is listed as an asset sale, not a real estate sale, and the listing is already marked “IN-CONTRACT / PENDING SALE.” A reader sent the listing to the Bay Area Telegraph as a news tip.
The photo on the listing looks like a generic stock photo, the better to keep secret the restaurant’s true identity.
We reached out to the broker, who said he couldn’t comment on specifics.
There are some clues, though. The listing says the restaurant was established in 2017 and includes an outdoor patio, full bar, Type-47 liquor license, walk-in refrigerator, freezer, Type-1 hood, ADA restroom, and what the broker calls a “hard-corner with great visibility.”
So it’s a big restaurant in a prominent spot. But other than that, we know fairly little.
What We Know From the Listing
The listing describes the business as a “move-in ready” opportunity for restaurateurs, cocktail lounges, or hybrid cafes. It also says prospective buyers should be prepared to share financial information, including bank statements and recent tax returns, for seller and landlord review.
The reason for selling is listed simply as “Other Interests.” That suggests that the restaurant is probably doing fine, and the current owner simply wants to hand over operations to someone else.
That distinction matters. We’re not realtors. But from our understanding, restaurant asset sales can mean many things. A sale could lead to a new owner keeping a restaurant open under the same name. It could lead to a new concept. It could fall through before closing. Or it could simply be a behind-the-scenes business transfer that customers barely notice.

But in a restaurant town like Lafayette, a 2,700-square-foot downtown restaurant with a full bar, patio, and corner visibility changing hands would be significant no matter which name is ultimately attached to it.
