Crumbs Restaurant Opens in Pleasant Hill, One of East Bay’s Most Anticipated Brunch Places

The most highly anticipated brunch spot in Pleasant Hill, California, has finally opened for business.

This spot replaces the former Old Pancake House building Gregory Lane. It’s right at the end of the Downtown Pleasant Hill area.

For months, the building sat empty. We heard last year that a new restaurant would be coming, and eagle-eyed viewers spotted paper covering the windows of the new spot earlier this year.

Now, this much-anticipated brunch place is open for business!

The new restaurant is Crumbs.

Crumbs originally had a location in Danville, California, that’s still open. They’re known for their pancakes, other brunch and breakfast items, and a whimsical interior with colorful umbrellas. We like their orange juice a lot too!

The Crumbs at the new location in Pleasant Hill is bigger but keeps much the same vibe. On the menu, you’ll find things like avocado toast, chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, crêpes, and more.

You’ll also find omelets, scrambles, and other egg dishes, pancakes—including a very purple ube pancake—as well as brunch items like burritos.

Crumbs even has special menus for diets like keto, as well as a vegan menu.

If you visit and sit outside, you can bring your dog and order them chicken, bacon, a burger, or sausage for themselves.

Like many brunch places in the Bay Area, prices are a bit steep at around $15–$25 per item.

Crumbs also has a full bar with lots of breakfast drinks like Irish coffee, Bloody Marys, mimosas, and more.

We stopped by to have a look, and the interior looks very newly built out and classy.

There is one downside—locals report that over the holiday weekend at least, wait times at Crumbs exceeded two hours. A lot of people gave up and went across the street to Royale, which recently opened down the block.

Overall, we’d say that’s a fairly good problem for a restaurant to have—being too popular! It probably says something about the food or at least about local excitement over this new place opening.

Horn BBQ in Lafayette had the same issue and we braved the lines and enjoyed the food there.

Check Crumbs out at 2059 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 (corner of Gregory). You can visit their website.
