LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA – Violent robbers, armed with sledgehammers and pepper spray, reportedly attacked a store in Lafayette, California, on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, at approximately 1:39 PM on Saturday afternoon, police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at a Lafayette store.

The Lafayette police said only that the store was in the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road, but reporting from News 24/680 indicated that the store was Divine Consign.

According to the police department, the suspects were armed with pepper spray and sledgehammers. Upon entering the business, they pepper sprayed customers and employees, and then “used a hammer to break a display case.”

The suspects immediately fled after stealing the goods. The police department said that they searched for the suspects and notified other law enforcement agencies. Unfortunately, the suspects were not located, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information should call the police department immediately at 925-283-3680.

This attack is just the latest in a violent crime wave that is sweeping through the 925. Last week, attackers armed with 9mm pistols held up patrons at Hops and Scotch in Walnut Creek, California.

Attackers also rammed the CVS in Lafayette, California, and attempted to steal an ATM.

That follows a violent assault at Optical Illusions in San Ramon, California, last month, and another pepper spray attack in Orinda.

Locals are getting fed up with the crime in Lafayette and nearby cities. Christine L, a resident of Lafayette, responded to the police department’s post with, “Too much crime lately in Lafayette,” and several other people indicated that they agreed with her.
