San Ramon’s Fanciest Dumpling Place Is Closing Forever

There’s tragic news for dumpling lovers in San Ramon, California. One of the best dumpling places there—and one that came from a restaurant pedigree with Michelin-starred cred—has permanently closed.

Dumpling Time at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, California, has permanently shut down.

It pains me to say that, as I visited the restaurant at least once a week with my kids. I loved their bao buns, soup dumplings, and Beijing noodles.

The closure is a bit of a mystery. The restaurant always seemed to be extremely busy, and prices were certainly high enough that it seemed like they should have been making good money.

For whatever reason, Dumpling Time in San Ramon has shut down. A Turkish eatery is apparently coming into the spot it previously occupied.

The good news for dumpling lovers is that there are still several Dumpling Time locations open around the Bay Area. I’ve enjoyed going to the one at Santana Row down in San Jose, and there was a location at Thrive City in Mission Bay in the city.

Still, I’m definitely going to miss eating Dumpling Time on the lawn at City Center and following it up with some gelato from Gio Gelati.
