Lafayette, California – This one is literally a breaking news story, at least if you care about pastries! Today, we learned that a cherished East Bay bakery is opening up a new branch in downtown Lafayette, California.
The new bakery is moving into the spot right next door to Sideboard. We had seen that Big Woof is coming into one of the storefronts that had been vacant there, but the storefront next to it also had a sign saying it was for lease.
For the longest time, we couldn’t figure out what was coming in. As of this morning, we know!
The new store will be a brand-new branch of Brioche de Paris, a cherished local bakery that is extremely popular down in Alamo, California.

Brioche de Paris sells all kinds of French pastries and other baked goods. They’ve got delicate and beautiful éclairs, thin wafer pastries, croissants, and more.
They also make cakes, and you can bet they’ll have some good coffee to serve up alongside their baked goods.

Basically, Lafayette is getting a little slice of Paris in the form of a new bakery. It’s extremely walkable and located in the accessible downtown area!
Brioche de Paris in Lafayette will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Hollie’s Homegrown. Hollie moved to Walnut Creek and opened a storefront adjacent to the old Cream location on Main Street.

It’s also important to note that Lafayette has a thriving French food scene. One of the best French restaurants in the East Bay, Rêve, is located just down the block from the new Brioche de Paris spot.
Here’s my 925 News TV episode about this and other local food stories:
Lafayette’s La Chataigne in Fiesta Square has limited hours but offers awesome pastries and a small selection of French goods.

Brioche de Paris clearly plans to expand on this with more of a full-service bakery offering, similar to what their Alamo location offers.

I stopped by this morning, and from the appearance of the interior, it doesn’t look like Brioche de Paris will be opening anytime soon. Plan on a month or two at least for them to build out the interior.
