WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – After months of build-out, Ananas Coffee has officially opened its doors at 1372 North Main Street, filling the storefront last occupied by CREAM ice-cream sandwiches.
We stopped by over a month ago to find the owners working on the menu and interior. They thought it would be open in about a week, but apparently it took a lot longer!

The soft-opening was first reported by neighborhood blog Beyond the Creek on June 13, and walk-in service is now fully up and running.

What’s on the menu
Ananas markets itself as a “healthy breakfast and coffee bar.” According to the shop’s online menu and storefront signage:
- Fresh açaí bowls topped with fruit, granola, and honey
- Organic coffee blends roasted locally by Zolo Coffee Roasters
- Nutritious smoothies featuring fresh fruit and super-foods
- Breakfast sandwiches on whole-grain bread
- A short list of “healthy snack” items for midday grab-and-go
People are also impressed with their Turkish coffee offerings, and special desserts like strawberry magnolia and bananas puddings.
Hours & atmosphere
Reviewers who visited opening weekend describe a bright, minimal interior with a few sidewalk seats and note that the café stays open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, later than many nearby coffee spots.
About the name
A menu placard explains that ananas—the word for pineapple in more than 30 languages—was chosen as a symbol of global connection. The café leans into the theme with pineapple-accent décor and a short blurb about the fruit’s Tupi-Guarani linguistic roots.
