CHP Dublin Nabs Alleged Retail Thieves With Car Full of Nike and Adidas Gear

DUBLIN, CA – California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Dublin Area arrested a suspect and seized suspected stolen merchandise during a traffic stop on Interstate 680 on August 15, 2025.

At approximately 10:51 p.m., officers pulled over a sedan for a traffic violation on northbound I-680 south of Stoneridge Road. During the stop, they discovered a large quantity of new clothing and detergent, including Nike and Adidas items still bearing security tags. The occupants of the vehicle could not explain the origin of the goods.

The driver was arrested for felony grand theft, and the items were seized as evidence. CHP’s Golden Gate Division Organized Retail Theft Task Force has joined the ongoing investigation.

“I’m thrilled to share that the Dublin Area is taking a strong stand against organized retail theft, holding offenders accountable,” said Captain Gerardo Serrato of CHP. “Our officers work tirelessly to ensure public safety, diligently patrolling the gateway to the Bay and keeping our roads safe for everyone.”
