Walnut Creek, California – It’s official: after a very long wait, we finally have a confirmed reopening date for Original Joe’s restaurant in Walnut Creek, California.
As we shared before, Original Joe’s has been one of the most hotly anticipated new restaurants in Walnut Creek.

Locals waited for over a year as Original Joe’s completely gutted and rebuilt the old Stanford’s Restaurant location by Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek.
They added spacious outdoor seating, a large bar inside, private rooms for events, and much more.
Original Joe’s started in San Francisco and has served delicious Italian family-style food in the Bay Area for generations.

Many recommend both the downtown San Francisco location and the restaurant outpost in Daly City. The fact that another one was opening here in Walnut Creek has been incredibly exciting.
When Original Joe’s first opened, lines wrapped around the block, and it was nearly impossible to get a reservation. Sadly, the restaurant was only open for a few days before a damaging fire forced it to close again.

What was supposed to be a short closure due to a “minor kitchen fire” stretched on for over a month.

This week, we started hearing rumblings that Original Joe’s was about to reopen. Readers reported seeing servers inside practicing table service, and one reader wrote in anonymously to say they had been called in off the streets near Broadway Plaza and offered a free test meal so that Original Joe’s staff could practice before reopening.

We also began hearing rumors about a reopening date. Some people thought it would be October 3, while other tips and sources pointed to October 1.
Until today, those were just rumors—now we have confirmation.
We were thrilled when Original Joes’ spokesperson reached to confirm a date for the grand reopening.

As far as we know, we were the first media source to report that Original Joe’s in Walnut Creek will officially reopen on Wednesday, October 1.
This is extremely exciting news for downtown, and we can’t wait to get in and try the new place out. Local excitement about supporting the restaurant hasn’t dimmed one bit—the fire and delays don’t seem to have changed that at all.
