LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA – If you care how Lafayette, California’s downtown looks, there’s a meeting coming up on Thursday that you’ll want to join.
Lafayette is actively considering new downtown design standards. These can affect everything from how tall buildings are allowed to be (skyscrapers on Mount Diablo? just kidding…), allowed architectural styles, landscaping, and more.

The meeting comes are some people are expressing concerns about Lafayette’s growing scale. The city has been expanding and adding new homes and businesses. That means tighter planning is needed to maintain the “small town feel”.

And of course, there’s always the issue of parking! With any new development here in the 925, that tends to come up. And although Lafayette has some great free lots, it can be tough to find parking already on busy evenings.

If you visit, you’ll be able to look at draft ideas for the future of the city, talk with planners, and leave written comments to make your voice heard.

Interested? The meeting is happening at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center on Thursday the 20th at 6pm.
