Anza Expedition Exhibit in Danville Tells A Vital Piece of California History

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is presenting Anza Expedition: 250th Commemoration, a new exhibit running from February 1 through May 31, 2026.

The exhibit features dioramas, displays, maps, and historical artifacts informing visitors about the 1775-1776 Spanish expedition that established a vital overland route to California.

The exhibit, curated by local historian Beverly Lane, largely focuses on the expedition’s expansion into the Bay Area in 1776.

The museum displays the journey that led to the founding of the San Francisco Presidio and Mission Dolores, and brought settlers through parts of the East Bay, near the San Ramon Valley.

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is located at 205 Railroad Avenue in Danville. Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m.
