A Farewell to Five Little Monkeys: Beloved Toy Shop in Walnut Creek Closes

It’s with a heavy heart that we report the closing of a beloved local institution, the Five Little Monkeys toy store in downtown Walnut Creek, California.

After twelve years of providing endless joy and entertainment to countless families, this cherished hub of fun and laughter has sadly shut its doors in January of 2023.

A Go-To Destination for Families

For over a decade, Five Little Monkeys has been the go-to destination for toys, gifts, and special occasions in the Walnut Creek area.

Many of us have fond memories of wandering the aisles with our young children, marveling at the dazzling array of unique toys and gifts that adorned the shelves. Five Little Monkeys always packed a ton into their small Main Street storefront–the experience of visiting must have been so exciting (and a bit overwhelming) for little kids.

I know that my own kids loved to visit and play with the train table in the Walnut Creek store.

Five Little Monkeys has always been heavily engaged in the local community, too. They do fundraisers for local schools and charities and much else.

Looking Ahead: Lafayette and Beyond

While the closing of the Five Little Monkeys in Walnut Creek marks the end of an era, it’s important to remember that the magic isn’t gone forever. The Lafayette location remains open, ready to welcome loyal customers and new visitors alike.

Those who have yet to experience the joy of shopping at Five Little Monkeys can look forward to discovering their extensive selection of unique toys and gifts and the same exceptional customer service that has made the brand such a beloved staple in the community.

Moreover, the Lafayette store offers a one-of-a-kind experience with a Zoltar fortune-telling machine, a model train ringing the top of the store, and a giant playhouse for kids.

Although it’s sad to lose the Walnut Creek location (as well as other local toy stores like Learning Express), the new Lafayette location provides lots for families (and kids) to enjoy!
