New Tifa Gelato and Chocolate Restaurant Coming to Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – While walking through downtown Walnut Creek, California last week, I happened to walk past the former Bottom Bunk sneaker shop at 1545 Locust.

Bottom Bunk, which sold high-end designer sneakers, closed last year. But now, there was paper covering the windows, indicating that a new place might be starting construction inside.

Sure enough, a public notice sign on the door indicated that the building had been transferred to a new owner. But the owner was listed as just LaMa Desserts LLC, so no one was quite sure what it would be.

Walnut Creek must be getting a new dessert shop! But what would LaMa Desserts sell?

I did some digging, and ended up on a rabbit hole of Llama themed desserts (Google autocorrects LaMa to Llama it seems), including finding a franchised dessert chain with Llama in its name. Who knew?

Turns out, though, this new place doesn’t appear to be from any of those chains. Rather, it looks like the new store will be a local branch of Tifa Chocolate and Gelato, an artisan ice cream and chocolate seller with locations around California.

Update 4/14: We were right! This store will indeed be Tifa Chocolate and Gelato. We are working with the owner to learn more. Stay tuned–more soon!

Tifa will be bringing things like (more) artisan gelato, drinking chocolate, artisan truffles and more to WC. We can’t wait!

We’ll continue to investigate and let you know when we have more info. In the meantime, make sure to join our free 925 News newsletter so we can keep you in the loop on every new restaurant opening and closing in the 925.
