CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – As we reported previously, Harvest House, a much-loved health food store in Concord, California, has closed its doors for good.
Readers have been reaching out to ask us about alternatives for customers who visited Harvest House for their healthy foods, supplements, and more.
The closest place that we found in concept and spirit to Harvest House is The Food Mill. The store dates back to 1933 and is still a family-run company. It sells a similar mixture of supplements, bulk organic foods, tea, coffee, and other items as you might have found at Harvest House.
The only downside is that it’s located through the tunnel in Oakland, at 3033 MacArthur Boulevard. It’s likely a great fit for Harvest House fans, but it might be too far of a drive for some people.
On this side of the tunnel, the newly renovated Pleasant Hill Market could be a fit for some of the offerings of Harvest House, especially after a change of ownership.
Locals tell us that the market (located at 2397 Pleasant Hill Rd) has totally revamped its organic food offerings and has some really great items.
If you’re looking for things that are more in the supplements direction, Arrive Nutrition at 2627 Pleasant Hill rd. in Pleasant Hill is another popular local option.
