Legend Has it This Walnut Creek Pizza Instantly Sends Pregnant People Into Labor

For 50 years, a Bay Area pizza chain with a prominent location in Walnut Creek, California, has been helping pregnant people in an unexpected way.

Rumor has it that a specific pizza from this legendary local chain will immediately send you into labor if you’re in the later stages of your pregnancy!

The Prego pizza, as it’s called, is an iconic menu item at Skipolini’s Pizza. It’s such a staple of the chain that their pizza boxes even mention it, and it’s permanently called out on the menu.

The pizza is a behemoth, stacked with nearly every topping on the Skipolini menu. It has salami, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, onions, ground beef, and more.

Skipolini’s calls it “our world-famous labor-inducing masterpiece.” The chain claims that over 150 women in their final trimester have eaten the pizza and almost immediately gone into labor.

That has made Skipolini’s a popular destination for pregnant people whose pregnancy is at term and who want the baby out already!

To be clear, there’s not necessarily any hard science behind the Prego pizza. It’s more of a piece of delicious local lore than something you should be using for medical purposes.

But the myth is so pervasive in the East Bay that every time we report on a different pizza chain closing down, readers inevitably write in and say, “Oh no, I hope it’s not the one with the pizza that makes people go into labor!”

Even if you’re not pregnant, it might still be a delicious meal option. You’ll also be pleased to know that once you do have the baby, Skipolini’s is also a great place to go with little ones.

Their Walnut Creek, California location has an indoor play structure and a small arcade where your kids can hang out and occupy themselves while you wait for the pizza to arrive.

They also have a fully enclosed outdoor patio, which is a great place to sit with kids when you want to be outdoors but don’t want to worry about them running away.

Beyond the pizza, Skipolini’s has excellent pies that are not quite as fancy as what you get at Delarosa down in San Ramon or Slice House down the block, but are perfect for an inexpensive, low-key night out with multiple children in tow.

We can’t personally confirm whether this legendary labor-inducing pizza works, but we can definitely confirm that it’s a bona fide local legend—and the cheese pizza there is pretty good too!
