Fire Shuts Down Original Joes in Walnut Creek Temporarily

Walnut Creek, California – Original Joe’s is the hottest restaurant in Walnut Creek. Unfortunately, today we happen to mean that literally!

A minor smoke or fire incident in the kitchen at Original Joe’s has closed down the restaurant today.

Readers wrote into the Bay Area Telegraph to share that reservations they had made at Original Joe’s for this afternoon had been canceled by the restaurant. When they asked why, Original Joe’s told them it was due to “kitchen issues.”

A public information officer for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District told the Bay Area Telegraph that just after midnight (12:08 AM) on Monday the 18th, the department had received a call about a potential fire at the restaurant.

Crews arrived at Original Joe’s in Walnut Creek and discovered that the incident was related to an accidental fire in the kitchen. CCCFPD said that the incident may have resulted in damage to a wall, but not much other information was available.

Original Joes later confirmed that a fire had occurred, writing “Due to a minor kitchen fire, Original Joe’s in Walnut Creek is temporarily closed. Thankfully, everyone is safe with no injuries. We are grateful to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District for their quick response and containment. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to reopening as quickly as possible and will share updates as they become available.”

Thankfully, it sounds like this was a minor incident.

It’s likely that Original Joe’s will reopen shortly. As the young folks say these days, the restaurant is “fire,” according to everyone who’s told us about the food there. Thankfully, in this case, the actual fire turned out to be a minor one!
